Introduction
Working with Burn victims for over 25 years globally, I have seen how fast life can change. One moment children playing happily at their homes and the next moment they accidentally get burned by either fire, hot water, hot beverage or simply just by stepping barefoot on a live electric wire. The grave tragedy of these burns led me to embark on this journey of healing as many children as possible. A severe, nonfatal burn is the most devastating injury the human body can survive. The complex interplay of physical, psychological trauma can profoundly affect the lives of children for years. Burn-related injuries often leave children with lifelong physical and psychological disabilities, resulting in significant financial burdens for families and caregivers.
Undertaken
Therefor truly the only way to treat a burn is to prevent it from happening in the first place. Therefore, establishing an effective fire safety and burn prevention program is much more cost-effective and will evidently reach greater numbers of people resulting in fewer injuries.
Mission, Vision and Impact
The House of Charity (HoC) was founded in 1997 and was started in a laundry room of a modest home in the Woodlands, Texas with the mission to improve the health and life of children in Houston and around the Globe.
